Your Secret Recipe To The Perfect Silky Smooth Butter Chicken

Have you ever planned a get together where you wondered what's that one recipe that will win hearts and found yourself perplexed because all you could think about is biryani which is again the same usual main course recipe that every other person makes. Unlike others, I'm not a die-hard fan of briyawni or whatever whitewashed tone you use to call it. Matter of fact I don't even understand the hype. anyways biryani isn't a big deal either if you are a Hyderabadi like me. So this is where the butter chicken comes into picture.  Butter chicken is one of the latest introductions to the Indian cuisine, must be some decades old and not more. The idea initially started when someone decided to add their leftover chicken tikka from last night to a simple yet freshly prepared gravy of onions and tomatoes. Its sweet as well as tangy taste of onions and tomatoes, the burnt aroma of grilled chicken and the richness of cashews and cream. A perfect blend of all the goodne...

Natural Homemade Mint Mouth Wash

Sugary substances cannot always be held responsible for cavity formation.
  • Bacteria present in the mouth due to poor oral hygiene
  • Dry mouth aka xerostomia(a condition where the mouth does not produce enough saliva which leads to bad breath, dry mouth, dry throat, and even chapped lips)

It is necessary for regular oral hygiene. Besides brushing twice daily, oil pulling once a week and flossing at least once daily, rinsing your mouth with a good mouthwash (that has fluoride) for a few minutes is also very helpful. But remember mouthwash is not a cure-all. Many brands confirmed that their products have harmful substances, that do more bad than good to the teeth.

Here I've come up with a natural homemade mouthwash remedy. This was my first time making and I absolutely loved the results I got. I've seen several different ways of making homemade mouth wash on the internet but I wanted to try something new. Unlike others, I used mint-infused distilled water instead of just regular bottle water. This gave it a different color and taste and of course is more beneficial than the others.

For this remedy you'll need:

Ingredients

Distilled water- 350ml
Fresh mint leaves- a handful
Mint essential oil- 6-7 drops
Baking soda- 1 tsp
Rock salt- 1 tsp
Vinegar- a few drops (optional)

1. Boil distilled water in a saucepan. Add a handful of fresh green mint leaves. After a minute turn the flame off and cover with a lid. The leaves should not turn black. Let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes.

2. When the water cools down completely, add the remaining ingredients and stir gently.

3. Store it into a bottle and use it for about a week.

NOTE: Mint is a breath freshener and baking soda and salt help in fighting cavity-forming bacteria. Homemade mouthwashes do not have harms but they could certainly be a lil harsh due to the presence of baking soda and salt.
This mouthwash is alcohol-free so its shelf life is short.
