Your Secret Recipe To The Perfect Silky Smooth Butter Chicken

Have you ever planned a get together where you wondered what's that one recipe that will win hearts and found yourself perplexed because all you could think about is biryani which is again the same usual main course recipe that every other person makes. Unlike others, I'm not a die-hard fan of briyawni or whatever whitewashed tone you use to call it. Matter of fact I don't even understand the hype. anyways biryani isn't a big deal either if you are a Hyderabadi like me. So this is where the butter chicken comes into picture.  Butter chicken is one of the latest introductions to the Indian cuisine, must be some decades old and not more. The idea initially started when someone decided to add their leftover chicken tikka from last night to a simple yet freshly prepared gravy of onions and tomatoes. Its sweet as well as tangy taste of onions and tomatoes, the burnt aroma of grilled chicken and the richness of cashews and cream. A perfect blend of all the goodne...

DIY Healthy Tuna Salad

"Sorry, I'm on a diet, I'll just take salad please". We all prefer salad on a crash diet, but why only when we are aiming to diet for weight loss? Why can we not include a salad in our daily diet to make it healthy? Some excuses like "Salads are tasteless", "Salads are boring", "It still leaves me feeling peckish"  are the ones we hear the most about salads. Guess what? I feel the same.😢 But salads don't necessarily have to be boring. You could constitute anything that you like as long as it is healthy. Make your own salads.😋 Create a new recipe.  Sounds fun, isn't it? Let's make a pact that we'll never force any boring salad down our throats, just for the sake of eating healthy because life is too short for A. BORING. SALAD. C'mon, follow me to my kitchen and let's throw in some veggies and let's not forget to spice it up a lil bit. All you need is:

Ingredients

-1 medium-sized onion- diced
-1 medium-sized Tomato- diced
-red cabbage, shredded- 1 cup
-1 small sized cucumber- diced
-plain mayonnaise- 3 tbsp
-thick yogurt- 1-2 tbsp
-salt and black pepper
-sugar- 1 tsp
-white vinegar- 1/2 tbsp
-canned tuna

1. Place all the veggies on the board and chop them all quickly.
2. Open tuna can and drain off the oil.
3. Combine them all in a large bowl and keep aside.
4. Separately in a small bowl, make a sauce with mayo, yogurt, vinegar, and sugar. Whisk it well, now pour this sauce on the veggies. Sprinkle salt and pepper and give it a good mix.
5. Cover it with a cling film and chill it for an hour before eating.

This salad can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days, but its best to eat immediately after preparing since the salt and pepper will make the veggies mushy losing all the water.

Some etiquettes of eating salad:

1. Salads should be taken before the main course as the vegetable are high in fibers and due to their high water content, they have low calories. Now when you take your Les Salade first, it takes up space in your stomach even though it is relatively low in calories and reduces the total intake of calories of a meal, meaning you'll reduce the intake of the main course. This will leave you with a full stomach but fewer calories.

2. Salads are best when taken in the morning as it helps in maintaining and controlling weight. Likewise, salads are suggested to be taken after workouts too.

3. I came across a few recipes with roasted or baked veggies. Veggies and fruits must be taken raw. Cooking any food will only multiply the calories present in it and you don't wanna do that. Do you?

4. Do not store salads or any food for that matter, in your refrigerator for a long time. The nutrients get lost and harmful gases present in the refrigerator are toxic. Your salad will do you more harm than good.

5. Prepare a new batch of salad each time you are going to eat and avoid storing them chilled for a long time.

A pretty long time back I came up with DIY Lentils Mayonnaise Salad, a vegan salad recipe that tastes equally delicious, but this DIY tuna salad is just above all.
